Description

Delicious candy apples coated in a sweet, red syrup perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1½ cups water
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 8 drops red food coloring
  • 15 medium apples, washed and dried
  • 15 craft sticks
  • 1 spray cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease your cookie sheets and insert craft sticks into the stemmed apples.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup over medium-high heat.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then insert a candy thermometer.
  4. Continue boiling without stirring until the temperature reaches 300 to 310°F (149 to 154°C).
  5. At this stage, a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water should form hard, brittle threads.
  6. Remove from heat and add food coloring.
  7. Holding each apple by its stick, dip it into the syrup, turning it to ensure even coverage.
  8. Place the coated apples on the prepared sheets to allow them to harden.

Notes

  • Ensure all apples are thoroughly dried for the best coating.
  • Be careful when working with hot syrup to avoid burns.
