A flavorful hoisin sauce mixture with a kick from fresh ginger and garlic.
Ingredients

- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce, or more as needed
- ¼ tsp minced fresh ginger
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ½ tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp green onions, chopped
- ½ tsp white sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce, water, minced garlic, chopped green onions, sesame oil, sugar, and ginger until thoroughly mixed.
- Adjust the thickness by adding more hoisin sauce if necessary.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
- When ready to serve, transfer the mixture to a small saucepan and gently heat over medium-low for 2 to 4 minutes until warmed.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, consider adding red pepper flakes.
- This sauce can be used as a marinade or a dipping sauce.
