Description

A flavorful hoisin sauce mixture with a kick from fresh ginger and garlic.


Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce, or more as needed
  • ¼ tsp minced fresh ginger
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ½ tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp green onions, chopped
  • ½ tsp white sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce, water, minced garlic, chopped green onions, sesame oil, sugar, and ginger until thoroughly mixed.
  2. Adjust the thickness by adding more hoisin sauce if necessary.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. When ready to serve, transfer the mixture to a small saucepan and gently heat over medium-low for 2 to 4 minutes until warmed.

Notes

  • For a spicier sauce, consider adding red pepper flakes.
